The latest Program revisions that took affect as of July 1, 2005 have brought many important changes to the benefits that are available to Program members. It is important that you read the Libby Medical Program 005 document to fully understand the Program so that you can take full advantage of those benefits that you may qualify for.

Highlights of Benefit Revisions under Libby Medical Program 005

  • LMP-005 clarifies that, generally, the LMP only pays for claims for monitoring and treating asbestos-related conditions and illnesses. This means that non-asbestos-related conditions of members will generally not be covered.
  • Hospice care has been expanded. Anyone who is a member of the LMP is now eligible for hospice care no matter what the indication for it is. In other words, hospice care will be covered even if the reason the member needs the care is unrelated to previous asbestos exposure.
  • The LMP now also provides for respite care. This means, if a member is receiving home hospice care by family members, the LMP will now cover the cost for personnel to come into the home and relieve the family members for up to five days during a thirty-day period.
  • The pharmacy benefit in the "Prescription Drugs" section of the LMP document now lists all the categories of drugs covered under "Libby-01," which is the name of the basic pharmacy benefit for members.
  • The qualifications for Libby-02 are now also listed in the LMP document. "Libby-02" is a broader pharmacy benefit for members with more serious asbestos-related illness.
  • Under both pharmacy benefits, properly-prescribed over the counter respiratory agents and smoking deterrents are now covered.
  • The administrator of the pharmacy benefit has not changed but its name has. In the prior LMP document, it was called "Merck-Medco," in LMP-005 the name is "Medco Health." The phone numbers and address for mail-in prescriptions remain the same.
  • A new section dealing with durable medical equipment (DME) has been included in LMP-005. This is important to the LMP members since the two items most frequently prescribed are nebulizers and home oxygen equipment. (Note, these items require a pre-certification by HNA/Triveris before the LMP can pay for them.)
  • If a deceased member's next-of-kin requests an autopsy, the LMP will now cover the costs involved.
